BES Group Electrical Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions apply to all BES Group Electrical courses. Lantei Ltd (a company registered in the UK with registration number 08374033 and registered office at British Engineering Services Unit 718 Eddington Way, Birchwood Park, Warrington, United Kingdom, WA3 6BA, referred to in these terms and conditions as “BES Group Electrical”).

If you place a booking with BES Group Electrical, and BES Group Electrical accepts your booking, these terms and conditions will form a legally binding agreement between you and BES Group Electrical.

These terms apply to you whether you are booking a course for yourself or on behalf of another person. Where these terms refer to “you”, this means the person who is placing the booking, whether or not you are the person attending the course. Where these terms refer to the “student”, this means the person or people who will be attending the course.

If you are booking a course for yourself, you must comply with all of the obligations set out in the terms and conditions. Whether they refer to “you” or the “student”.

  1. Booking

1.1 If you’d like to book a place on a BES Group Electrical course, you may do so either via the website, by phone or in person. Providing BES Group Electrical accepts the student and there is availability on the course, BES Group Electrical will email you the booking confirmation.

1.2 Acceptance of a booking by BES Group Electrical does not constitute enrolment on the selected course. Once your booking has been accepted, BES Group Electrical will assess the information provided with your booking and consider whether it believes the Student is eligible. To make this assessment, BES Group Electrical may require the student to undertake an interview before confirming enrolment. BES Group Electrical reserves the right to refuse enrolment on the course for any reason.

1.3 Should BES Group Electrical decline to enrol a student for any reason or if, after accepting the Student’s enrolment BES Group Electrical discovers information which gives it reasonable grounds to believe that the course is not appropriate for the student, BES Group Electrical may cancel the booking and will notify you accordingly. Where this happens, unless the reason for the cancellation was your non-compliance with the terms, BES Group Electrical will give you a full refund of any sums you have already paid.

1.4 Whilst BES Group Electrical will take all reasonable steps to make courses as inclusive as possible, it is essential that you are aware of the following:

  • 1.4.1 All of BES Group Electrical’s courses will be delivered in English
  • 1.4.2 All workshops and assessments require a reasonable level of physical fitness and health
  • 1.4.3 Electrical work is heavily regulated and, if not properly performed, potentially dangerous, and therefore BES Group Electrical courses are only suitable for individuals intending to use the skills developed in the course of their trade.

1.5 By placing a booking you confirm that the student can clearly understand spoken English (including reading & writing), has a reasonable level of physical health and is either already working in the electrical industry or is intending to enter the industry.

  1. Payment of Fees

2.1 All course fees are to be paid in full by you at least 7 days before the course commencement date.

2.2 Balance payments can be made by credit/debit card, BACS transfer, over the phone or via our website.

2.3 BES Group Electrical may, in its entire discretion, accept payment in instalments, although reserves the right to demand payment in full of any outstanding balance due at any time.

2.4 All amounts shown are excluding VAT unless otherwise stated.

2.5 BES Group Electrical may allow a third party finance company to make a payment but accepts no responsibility for any instalments missed.

  1. Exceptions to Standard Payment Term

For some qualifications, BES Group Electrical may at its discretion offer different payment terms to you. However, once you make the booking, you cannot change the agreed course payment terms. You will need to complete a written contract detailing payment terms.

  1. Non-payment of fees

Failure to pay course fees in full by the course commencement date may result in the student being unable to sit the course or the exam.

  1. Rights to Cancel

5.1 On the basis that you book more than 21 days in advance of the course commencement date, you will be eligible for a “cooling off period

5.2 If you wish to cancel during the cooling off period, you must cancel within 7 days from the date on which you placed your booking; and 14 days before the course commencement. Your cooling off period will normally be 7 days from your booking date, but you will not get the full 7 days if you placed your booking fewer than 21 days before the course commencement, and you will not get any cooling off period if you booked 14 days or fewer before the Course Registration Date.

5.3 If you cancel during the cooling off period, you will receive a full refund, minus an administration fee of £25 for short courses (Up to 2 Days) and £75 for longer courses (3 Days+).

5.4 If you cancel more than 14 days prior to your course, we will be entitled to any refund, however we can move you to an alternative date with an administration fee of £25.00 per student.

5.5 If you cancel 7 days or fewer before the course commencement, you will still be required to pay the full amount for the course, including any balance payment. If you have not paid the full amount at the time you cancel you must immediately pay the balance to BES Group Electrical. You will not be entitled to any refunds.

5.6  Any deposits paid are non-transferrable or refundable unless you wish to cancel the booking during the cooling off period you can receive a refund of the deposit (minus the administration fee) as described in term 7.3 above.

  1. Course Paperwork

6.1 We will send the course booking confirmation by email.

6.2 BES Group Electrical owns and licences the copyright in all course materials. BES Group Electrical prohibits copying, adaptation or other use of course materials without the written permission of BES Group Electrical.

  1. Course Changes

7.1 Should you wish to make changes your booking, we charge an administration fee of £25 for short courses. Short courses are up to 2 days. The charge is £50 for longer courses (3 days+). You must make all change requests from the email address used to make the booking or a signed letter. Course moves can occur at the discretion of BES Group Electrical and can only occur once.

7.2 You can only make a course move if there are 14 days or more before the course commencement date. 

7.3 In NO circumstances can you move the City & Guilds 2396 course, due to enrolment and scheduling procedures which take place a number of weeks prior to the examination.

7.5 It is your responsibility to provide the right details about the Student at the time of booking. Should you need to amend a name or date of birth after booking, you will incur a charge of £50. You will also need to provide proof of this in the form of some formal identification. Valid identification includes a passport / driving licence / birth certificate.

  1. No-Show Policy

8.1 Once a course starts, the Student must attend all sessions to successfully complete the course (once started, courses cannot be completed at a later date). You will not receive a refund for any absence.

8.2 BES Group Electrical review each absence and the reasons given for that absence. If the reason given by the student was due to exceptional circumstances, BES Group Electrical may offer a new date to attend the course. Whether or not we decide circumstances to be  “exceptional” shall be at the sole discretion of BES Group Electrical.

  1. Liability

If booking on the behalf of the student, you agree to bring any claim against BES Group Electrical yourself. Should the student bring a claim against BES Group Electrical anyway, you will indemnify BES Group Electrical. This stands against all losses, damages, claims, costs and expenses (including legal expenses) that it suffers or incurs as a result of that claim (including any amount that the student may receive).

  1. Advice Disclaimer

10.1 All the advice provided regarding abilities to join registration bodies, career paths, qualification advice or other career opportunities is correct at the time of enquiry. This information may change and is beyond our control. BES Group Electrical is not responsible for any changes to third party organisations.

10.2 Opinions expressed by the tutor hosting the course represent their own views and not necessarily those of BES Group Electrical.

  1. Rule Compliance

BES Group Electrical, may, at their discretion cancel the student’s placement on the course without a refund. Namely, if the Student fails to comply with BES Group Electrical rules or commits a serious breach of the enrolment terms.

  1. Complaints

  1. Identification

Most exams will usually require the Student to provide a photographic ID. The student must bring a driving licence or passport with him or her when attending the course. Failure to provide a valid ID may result in the student being unable to sit the course or exam.

  1. General

The student or bill payer must make all payments in full. The student must successfully complete the course prior to the issuing of the certification
